Can you haggle on NEXT furniture?

So my girlfriend and I have bought our first house together and are due to complete and move in within 10-14 days.
We are very fortunate as we both work for John Lewis and therefore tomorrow we shall both receive our 11% bonuses plus our usual monthly pay. This puts us in the very lucky position of being able to kit out our whole house with new furniture using our own cash.
Has anyone successfully managed to get NEXT down on price when buying a large amount of furniture from them? We are looking to spend £1500-£2000 on 5 or so pieces of their hartford collection and have already bought our Sofa from there a few weeks ago (just waiting for that to be delivered now

I recently purchased a £1500 sofa from Next, and before purchasing I spoke to a friend who was an ex employee at Next who said they don't do haggling at all. The only good thing is that they offered 12 months no interest repayments so we are able to pay for it over a year without spending any extra. Always worth asking though! Good luck with your house move too!0

Definitely go in-store and ask if there's any deal they could do you for buying such a large amount of stuff in one go. But if they won't budge on the price, you might be better off buying online through a cashback website like Topcashback or Quidco because for that amount of money you'd get quite a bit back. Say they were offering you 4% cashback and you spent £2000 - that's £80 off the original price. I mean, cashback is never normally guaranteed but if you've got no other way to get some money off you might as well try it.
Keep an eye out for vouchers too, they pop up every now and again. Apparently you can get a £10 off for new customers voucher in-store at Next to use online, but I haven't seen one personally.0 -

Ask! Remind them you've just bought a sofa and plan to make further purchases and see what they say. Just because other people haven't successfully haggled doesn't mean that you won't succeed.
Good luck.0 -
I'm shocked you work for a quality company and buy from a substandard one, if you must, then at least go to Next outlets where you will see the true value of their 'furniture'. Or wait and use your 25% discount and buy in-house at JLP for something that will last.0

Completely agree - buy something decent from JL with your discount.0

We have already purchased quite a lot from JL including beds, mattresses and bedroom furniture, but unfortunately the style of sofa and living/dining furniture in JL just isn't to our taste.
Yes, it would be nice if we could get everything we like from our own company because of the discount, but in reality that doesn't always happen as in this case there is nothing that suits our taste in JL.
I wasn't aware that next furniture was substandard? The pieces I've seen so far have been sturdy and look to be of good quality. What makes you say that? I obviously want to buy items that are going to last so I'm interested as to why you suggest that next furniture will not?0 -
I think there's an undeniable quality to John Lewis products that comes not only from the products themselves, but from the care you'll get if anything goes wrong with them. I'm sure you know from working there, but if you were to ever have a problem they'd likely do everything in their power to fix that problem. Next isn't quite like that.
If you check them out on Trust Pilot it's not pretty - but that's not normally a reflection of their actual products. I've had some Next furniture in the past and it's suited me fine. I think you should get what you want, rather than buying from John Lewis just to use your discount. There's no point doing that if you're not personally a fan of their style of furniture. I've never heard of Next's furniture being substandard, but when you compare them to John Lewis I guess they can't quite match the quality (but that's usually reflected in a cheaper price I think?).0 -
It's a bit like asking why the BMW is better than a Ford. If you like the Ford that is fine, but if I could get a BMW at Ford price I would.
Have you looked further than your local JLP, perhaps online or even another store. I had a sofa made for me, by Tetrad but through JLP Oxford Street, it wasn't horrendously expensive either.
Next isn't well made, it might be a good purchase - if you like it - but it isn't quality. Having said that, some JLP stuff is lower range but that is the cheaper priced/placed ranges. But I would still rather have that than the Next stuff.0 -
If you work for John Lewis don't you have a monthly warehouse sale you can pick up bargains at? Ex display and slightly damaged goods with the same guarantees but at vastly discounted prices, far more off than with your discount on full price stock. That's where I would go rather than Next. You can pick up discontinued Next furniture ranges at Next Outlets occasionally.0
