Paying not to be Spied On

Have to say that I like that Google remembers everything I view, even up to things on my Google Drive. I can just type the name of a document in the address bar in Chrome and it will show a link to the document I want to view. I can do this on any computer too as long as Im logged into Chrome.
It also remembers which website I like so when I do a Google search it gives me favourite websites preference in the ranking.Faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.0 -

Now does it remember those things for your benefit or for its own benefit?
I don't use any google programs yet I found over 30 instances of google update on my system recently. Had to trawl through the registry to remove them all.
A VPN is the best suggestion to avoid getting spied on however most of the better ones like cyberghost do cost a significant amount. The ISP may well be able to detect the VPN usage but shouldn't be able to snoop. Direct line taps would be required but you'd probably have to be doing something pretty sinister to attract such attention!
The Tor browser while beneficial for accessing banned websites (ie torrent sites) is too slow for most uses and some user habits such as watching video on it makes your activity traceable.0
