Looking for some tax advice please....please bear with me :0) .....hubby's tax code is 680L and has been since last May 2014. He started his new job Dec 2012 and Tax code was 825L then Feb 13 it changed to 1128L it then changed to 825L IN April 13. May 2013 it changed back to 1182L and then in February 2014 it changed to 740L and in April went to 825L and May 14 to 680L and March 15 goes back to 740L

He has shares and divs about £3000 a year
His medical is £1500 a year
Expenses £3000 roughly a year

We have never been so poor!!!

He has made several attempts to sort this, he admits he may have cocked up his tax return up as was under stress last year due to Dad being ill etc

Any help would be appreciated :0)

he should have received an explanation of the codes from HMRC
what were they?

what does his P11d show?
is he a 40% tax payer?
does he owe back tax from precious years?
are his expenses taxable in some way?

He has never had an explanation for the 680L CODE

He is a 40% tax payer
NO doesn't owe any, paid £2000 on last tax return
Health care £1500 a year is taxable

Nothing else we can think of other that his shares

Then he should phone HMRC and ask for the P2 Coding Notice that explains it. They will also explain it to him by phone. He can also view his coding notices online if he has online access.

Phone at 7:45am for the best chance of getting through.
