Sort Code Confusion with A&L

I hope you can help me! I wish to pay my fathers loan off but don't want to ask him for his details again as he will refuse! I have a bank account number for him but two different sort codes! I know one is the loan and the other his current - is there any way of checking? I have tried online sort code checkers but they just say Santander (one Edinburgh and one Bootle) but that doesn't help me! Any suggestions please?
The sort codes, if it helps, are 890000 and 720000

The old A&L (and prior to that Girobank Bootle) sort codes were 72-00-00 followed by a 9 digit a/c number.
More lately the last zero was replaced by the first digit of the a/c number to remove the confusion around the 9 digit number (when all other banks used 8 digits) i.e 72-00-00 657896543 became 72-00-06 57896543
Hope this helps0 -
Ah..thank you. So it's possible I have just one account number but two sort codes which means I don't have the loan account details. Aaahhh! Thanks anyway. :-)0
