Can you apply for 2 mortgages at same time?

Options
I am s/e for 17 months now and Precise offered a mortgage, DIP, based on 1 years worth of accounts - Nov 13 to Nov 14. I only have 1 x SA302 for Nov 13 to Apr 14 so it's not showing much. Now at the stage of underwriting, they have said that the accounts are not enough (there is a long story here but I'll not bore you with it) and want another SA302 which I'm trying to get organised.

I am having a hell of a time with Precise anyway via an IFA.
I have an offer on a house with an entry date of 10th April (haha) and the underwriters now want an SA302 for this year so there will be delays. That's fine, except there is no guarantee that they will make a confirmed offer.
I've spoken to Halifax who I bank with and they've said they would "consider" SA302 for 1 years accounts.

I am getting a bit frustrated with my IFA because they are saying that they cannot push Precise- WHAT?? Are they gods or something? Sorry, just feeling really anxious.

So my question is while Precise mess around and take their time can I also apply to Halifax as my backup plan?

This would be a fresh application I know, and at least with Precise I am some way down the line but their behaviour has been uncertain and downright wrong.
For example, all my banking and cards show my middle name as an initial - I submitted my passport which shows my full name and they have reduced my offer by 1%:mad::mad: Talk about playing hardball.

I've given my notice at my rented property and I run a business from home - I could end up homeless and I'm at the end of my tether with it. Help I am sick with worry :-(

If you think you know better than your broker go ahead but be aware that trying to run two ends against the middle will end in disaster.

Halifax make up their mind on each case whether they will live with one year figures - it is not standard criteria.

Concerns and plans are better discussed with your broker than on here.

  • I don't think I know better - if I did I wouldn't have posted on here.
I merely asked a question if you can have 2 applications at the same time.

I was going to say that I can't see any reason why you couldn't apply for more than two, if you really wanted. Since that's not the question you asked, I'll just shut up.

  • thanks - that's what I was thinking...
no need to shut up - you answered my question :-)
  • Well to answer my own question and for the benefit of all on here who didn't know.... No I can't apply for 2 at same time. As I have an application in at the moment I'd need to cancel it then apply for the alternative one. The gospel according to Halifax.
