Well, (as expected!), her local pension dept. don't know what a 'pension input amount' is, and have simply quoted her contributions.
From my earlier figures it seems as though the answer is 'roughly' (250 x 16) + 1000 = 5000. ??
This would leave an amount of £17k we could put in to a PP.

Wonder if we can rely on this?

Really? This is very basic pension knowledge so their recruiting and/or training is woefully inadequate.
I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.

Bear in mind that the Pension Input Period for the pension does not necessarily align with the tax year.
Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.

When I took VS at the end of 2014 my company let me split the payment between tax years. I got the £30000 tax free when I left and will get the balance in April. I haven't worked since leaving.

Firstly, apologies to paolo2 for hijacking the thread.. I just thought my question was a relevant follow on.

We have now found, from the NHS pension link, that the pension year for them is from 1 Apr to 31 Mch.

My partner has her pension statement from 31 March last year which gives her pension amounts on that date and the 'increase' amounts should she work one more year. So we assume these are the numbers we should put into the formula in the NHS document.
I've suggested she might forward the document to her own pension department.
We hope to put as much as we can into a PP in the next week.
