Quick help- overcooked jam

I have no experience of this as I've never made jam, although I have made chutneys and marmalade. If it was me I would probably warm the jam still in its jar by standing the jar in some hot-ish water. That might allow you to get it out of the jars more easily. After that I'm not sure what to suggest except maybe to use it as an ingredient in some baking while you've got it out of the jar. I'm not sure how you could go about making it more spreadable.
Not much use I'm afraid but hope that helps a little. I'm sure a more experiences jam-maker will be along in a while.

I'm not sure either but I had some jam set too hard and it made great jam for jam tarts and as a bottom layer in a bakewell tart.
It can also be stirred into porridge! Ice cream topping ??0 -

i had this problem with my first attempt. I added a little water and reheated, it then set properly.0 -
I think I'd put this one down to experience and use it for cooking. You could make bakewell & jam tarts as suggested above, also jam buns and I'm sure it would be fine to fill a victoria sponge, as you could spread it on while the cake is still a little warm, to help it spread. I would put the jam back into the pan and add a little water and bring just to the boil again to see if it softens it.

Had to stand the jars in warm water to get the solid jam out
but, once back in pan with some water and the leftover blueberries I brought it to the boil and then testing for set again. It's now proper jam!
Just having some on toast...yumm! :j
