I wish I were that confident.

I fear he'll bang on about nothing else!

I wish my own personal inflation was at zero.

    It can be!

My own inflation for 2014 (over 2013) was -3.5%

It is a 'simple' process of strong budgeting. We ate and drank the same quality of stuff. Had the same holidays. Broadly did the same thing. The savings to be made by shopping around on Utilities and Insurance, coupled with strong negotiation with broadband/TV suppliers can save shedloads. So can bulk buying, tax saving measures, and a general cost consciousness.

I start the year with a budget, broken down into monthly amounts for each main heading. I have never exceeded that amount. [In truth I have never actually attained it, always making savings]. It is a simple monthly task to review actual expenditure, and where necessary, move budget money from one category to another, ensuring that the total annual amount is never changed upwards.

Unfortunately, I have not yet found a certain way to ensure that income (like investment growth, savings interest) always exceeds budget!

Inflation has fallen to zero for the first time on record in Britain, boosting incomes in real terms and handing the chancellor a pre-election advantage.

Since records began in 1989. Since which there's most certainly been an inflationary monetary policy.

Well, I did mention ignorant people and you obviously fall amongst that category. Let me explain:

The increase in National Debt is a natural consequence of Labour's annual deficit. For instance if Labour had retained power and not tackled the deficit they would have added at least 800 Billion to the National Debt (5 years times annual overspending of 160 Billion) as oppose to the Coalition's 600 Billion. Thus we are at least 200 Billion better off National Debt-wise under the Coalition due to the tough austerity measures. Got it ????? :rotfl:

if if if,if if's were wishes etc etc the coalition PROMISED that the deficit would be ZERO by now, they have over-shot every target, they have failed to cut spending by their own admission, their welfare cuts have failed, tax income has failed, the coalition has failed thankfully they will soon be just another page in history

Hmm. Promised? I think it was a target rather than a promise let alone a PROMISE. How have their welfare cuts failed? If you mean that welfare payments have fallen then that is a success surely..?

I think the British economy is doing rather well considering the Eurozone, her biggest customer, is FUBAR'd.

Ironically the government has come pretty close to what Labour had "promised", so any Labour supporters should be happy they got their way.

The March 2010 Budget forecast for total borrowing over the next 5 years (to April 2015) was £567 Billion.

.. and that's because people did not want public spending cut drastically, and Labour certainly didn't as they opposed every cut the Coalition made. So the Coalition were under pressure to go slower and listened to public opinion. :p

You can't have it all ways !! ;)

    I would concur.

Certainly the actual outturns have proved to be pretty darned close to the March 2010 Budget forecast numbers. Perhaps we should see if we can get that Mr Darling back into office spmehow:).

If Labour had the other Miliband and Darling in charge I wouldn't mind, but instead we have Wallace and Gromit. God help us if Labour win!
