It depends on your skin type but for me I find this one is fab!

I tend to get dry patches and this evens and softens everything and my foundation then glides on perfectly and last really well.

    Hi
Primer is a good base for your foundation, it helps smooth out uneven skin tone and minor skin flaws
Smashbox make a good primer, but it all depends on your budget

    Used one for years.

There are different ones for different problems.

Oily skin needs a mat one. But you can get hydrating as well.

I have used Smashbox which I really liked, then developed sensitive skin so moved on. Hourglass, Eve Lom and Laura Mercier. Yes your foundation lasts longer.

I have Laura Mercier and like it. Makes your skin smooth and so, I suppose, foundation goes on more easily.

  • I just come across this thread and was interested to know this to.

I've also been told Lanacane Anti Chafing cream is also a good primer and cheap.
Has anyone used this? I googled and you tubed it and it seems quite a popular alternative. I haven't given it a go yet. Can anyone recommend anything for combination skin.

I tried Lanacane anti-chafing gel but it didn't work for me. It's supposedly a brilliant dupe for smashbox primer, and although it did make my makeup go on smoothly it didn't stop my face from getting oily as well as smashbox did. I found the texture quite heavy and waxy, but I've heard other people swear by it. It's only a few pounds for a tube so worth trying.

I do not use a primer as such but I think Clarins beauty flash balm is excellent to wear on it's own, but also as an excellent base for your make up. It's normally £22-£23 for a tube but you really do only need a small amount. Less is more.

Not really a primer but I like Avon Make-up Setting Spray - cheap as chips and you just spritz on to set your make up. I also find a few sprays on my makeup sponge/beauty blender before applying foundation works well too.

I use Bobbi Brown facial moisturisers - they all have primer built in. For day wear I use the 'Vitamin enriched face base'. No issues with it and works with my skin type and have been using it for a couple of years now. I think I pay £38 for a pot but it lasts a good while as you need a small amount.
