I simply do not believe those figures. They probably ignore self employed, zero hour contracts and a lot of other stuff. Then of course we do not get paid in Euros !!! :rotfl:0 -

Exactly. There's so much ignorance here. Try opening a Ltd company in Germany for instance. You cannot without certain qualifications and funds whereas in the UK anybody can start a company any day for minimal amount. :rotfl:0 -

We now have regulations that demand that landlords ensure that their tenants have the right to be in the UK, and that demand that employers ensure that their staff have the right to work in the UK. Are those the kind of 'sensible checks' you have in mind?Cyberman60 wrote: »...For instance I bet they know who comes in and leaves their country !!!
Germany has a land borders. They are normally much harder to police than stretches of open sea.0 -
Congratulations on your superior knowledge. You should feel.....superior. Or perhaps realise that yours is a massive oversimplification of course.
Practical men, who believe themselves to be quite exempt from any intellectual influences, are usually slaves of some defunct economist.0 -

Well, I'm not wet behind the ears, having worked all of my life in many countries, including Germany and France, and for many companies, permanent and contract. It may be oversimplification but the answer is clearly there by application of commonsense which others cannot or don't want to see.0 -

As you've just solved probably the biggest economic problem in the UK you should probably go to work for the Treasury or BoE as they need your help urgently. Then just hang around for the inevitable Nobel prize.0 -

Who checks the landlords ? How many landlords have been fined. Now let me guess..... :rotfl:
Yes, Germany is easy to enter and exit, but they do check people more rigorously when they apply for work, benefits, accommodation etc. The UK is a soft touch and always will be until we have a strong right-wing government.0 -

Well, I am better qualified for the Treasury than most people in there by virtue of the studies I took the trouble to do many years ago. Many people at the heart of the deficit and banking problems did not have a proper banking qualification, including some now infamous CEOs. Many 'professional' politicians do not even know the difference in terms between annual deficit and national debt which is a sad reflection of the level of their competence and to the detriment of the UK.

None, as far as I'm aware.
But then, we are talking about the Immigration Act 2014. The new rules were only applied in the West Midlands from the 1st December, and will be rolled out to the rest of the UK during the course of this year.

You could have fact checked that before posting. Double ..... :rotfl:Cyberman60 wrote: »...Yes, Germany is easy to enter and exit, but they do check people more rigorously when they apply for work, benefits, accommodation etc.
Exactly how are the checks more rigorous.Cyberman60 wrote: »...The UK is a soft touch and always will be until we have a strong right-wing government.
Something tells me that I wouldn't like this "strong right-wing government" of which you speak.0 -
Why is this a problem? Surely it keeps employment high?Faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.0
