    Sorry localhero, only just seen your input on the thread.

    It isn't me who has POA, it's a friend. Just easier to say its me though as I know the ins and outs of the situation.

    The money and house he has won't come to 300k so he won't come in for inheritance tax when he dies but the family are keen to invest some of the money he has now.

    Still a high risk option and to exercise it under a POA for an elderly and sick person is not something many advisers will jump at recommending.
