First meeting with mortgage broker

Hi everyone.
On Saturday my girlfriend and I have our first meeting with a mortgage broker.
I want to ask the right questions but not sure what things I really should ask?
I've got the obvious in that we want to know how much we can borrow - bearing in mind my girlfriend is freelance and how does the broker make their money etc / whether all lenders are checked.
Is there anything else you would suggest? Not sure what to expect to be honest...

There are no real right or wrong questions as such, its whatever is important to you.
I tend to tell clients my fee and when its chargeable before even going to the appointment.
The general questions I get asked are:
What is the process,
How long will it take,
What to expect.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. When is the fee due? Just wondering generally.0

I dont think there is a general answer - it can be anywhere between application and offer.
Personally I charge mine on offer, although i dont usually chase it until the end of the month it was offered so that could be a day or a month after offer.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. From a client's perspective, I'd want to find out at least the following:
What the broker's fee structure is and when the fee is payable, if they are a fee based broker
The buying process & time line
What other buying related costs to expect and when
Whether or not they will help in moving things along and having conversations with estate agents and conveyancers
If they can recommend a local conveyancing firm that is on the chosen lender's approved panel
What days and times they are available
How they can be contacted0
