I was unemployed at the time. The Jobcentre were very understanding! Not meaning to be the harbinger of doom but if you're looking for another job , a lot, but not all, Employment Agencies routinely do credit checks before submitting you for a job. Anyway, a friend of mine is off to India next week for a holiday. He was wondering what the weather was like, so he rang his bank!0

I wonder if the job centre declares that they are doing a credit check. I've just had my credit report from the 3 agencies and was surprised to see who has done checks recently without telling me!

I told my business partner that I am an undischarged bankrupt, to which he just huffed and said "It's a fact of life in business. I have been bankrupt too - as have half of my friends"
We are just waiting until my discharge until I can become a director of the company.

I am responsible for the employment policy of a large employer so can offer an employers perspective on this.
BR would not be gross misconduct and warrant dismissal, we would want to support our employee through this difficult time and would offer our support/referral for counselling if required.
It is expensive to recruit, induct and train so our aim is to keep good people at work, being as productive as possible. That means acknowledging and supporting valuable employees through the rough times.0
