Lifemel. Special honey that boosts immune system?

A friend of a friend has leukemia and is buying some kind of honey that is meant to boost the immune system between treatments. The bees are apparently fed on echinacia and some other things and for the priviledge, he's being charged £40 a jar.

Does anyone know what this stuff is and where to buy it cheaper than that so I can pass the info on? I believe it's called lifemel.

thanks

    Have you seen this GR?

    lifemel linky

It would appear that Holywell Health Ltd are the only UK importers and that the £40 a pop merchants Victoria Health are their UK distributors of choice.

    Not good.:(

You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.

Oi you lot - please :heart:GIVE BLOOD  - you never know when you and yours might need it back! 67 pints so far.
  • Lifemel has had one clinical trial involving just 30 patients from what I could see.
It might be wonderful but the trials so far are very limited & it is also horrendously expensive.

Manuka honey has had loads of clinical trials worldwide (Including many in this country) with extremely encouraging results. Put in a search & you'll be amazed.

You must get Active Manuka honey for the best benefits. Tesco sell Active 10+ for just £5.99 for 340gm. This is the best priced Manuka I've found.

Personally I swear by Active Manuca Honey.
Bee Propalis Capsules also help boost the immune system - a combination of both is my favourite - as long as the person isn't allergic.

113gm of Lifemel for £40 - that's daylight robbery! - especially with just one very small clinical trial. :-(
  • Firstly, I would like to pose the question what price can you really put on improved health and quality of life??

re: wishi'dreadsonner's comments ... My son has been on Life mel for four weeks now and I like to respons and perhaps provide some insight into Lifemel

    - The first clinical trial but be small but it is effectively a 'stage I' trial ALL drugs go through first. Its exactly how medicines from cancer drugs to aspirin started their life

    - Stage II, thus much larger, clinical trials are underway in breast cancer patients

    - There are limited clinical trials availble for Life Mel because it is new; Manuka has been used in medicine for over 30 years and both Medihoney Wound Gel and Mesitram Wound Dressings have been available on prescription since 2005. Manuka is a fabulous product but it has a different mode of action compared to Life Mel

    - Totally agree re: needing active manuka, the best I've found for my IBS is 60+UMF and like you I swear by it

£40 is expensive, and to my family it is expensive, but I can't put a price on my sons health. He has a chronic and rare form of cancer and is undergoing severe and debilitating chemo on a weekly basis - its wiped him out and he was only really able to get out of bed for 6-7 hours a day. He had sores which wouldn't heal, no energy and generally was a very sick lad.

Since being on Life mel, not only can I see a difference in his lifestyle, because now he has one, but also his temperment and ability to copy day to day. He is now up before noon, able to play with his sister, see friends and, for the first time since treatment started we were able to go out for the day to London. Albeit he got tired, but as a family we hadn't had that privalige for months.

So the challenge - is it placebo effect?

Well the sores healed 10 days into taking Life mel. He has had two sets of blood work done since being on life mel and on both the quality of his blood improved - thus his white blood cell count improved, hence the improved immunity.

This is medically evidence which supports my motherly, anecdotal evidence. I can only say again that yes, it is expensive, but to me totally worth it and I wish the same results for anyone with cancer who decides to try it.
