We have a blind guy working at my call centre. I'd just be honest to be fair0

Why employ someone who is a risk of not turning up to work when you have so many CV's to choose from?
I think the caring for someone else is a believable lie, doing charity work because of what happened is (personally) trying to add things that don't need to be done. Not saying don't go work in a charity ...but I am saying don't over complicate it....don't say it was your Mum say it was an Aunt/Uncle with an illness and no one else was willing to do it. No one will question you to much about it and if they do you don't want to talk about it as you were really close.
I don't get it. you say lie, and that if you was doing the interviews you would just move on to the next person if you saw that someone had health problems and a big gap.
What if you employed that next person and found out later they lied on their CV? that lie could be a fake employer and said next person may have been in prison for the past ten years for something pretty unsavory.
I say keep telling the truth. How do you know the person doing the interview hasn't had issues of their own like yourself.
A good liar needs a good memory. an honest person can sleep tight knowing no lies can be exposed at work when they next go in to work.
Wishing you all the best. If its any consolation I know a chap who didn't work for a longer time than 5 years and has just got a job by being honest about his poor work history.0
