What do you do with unwanted gift cards?

I think they are a terrible nuisance. (i know this is horribly ungrateful:o but i appreciate the kind thought) It seems that it always costs me money to spend them, because it is unlikely that you find something you want at the exact value, and it is often for shops where i don't want or need anything.
Rarely have I been offered them as a gift, perhaps once or twice I have won them at school. OH tends to use them if she happens to be going to the particular store where she can use them, else they get recycled and passed on to someone who has use for them.
Have never had to bin them, as OH will take out of the bin and find a use for them. She does not believe in waste, which to me is ironic, as they are a waste of money.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Unless you know a guitarist who has a pic maker. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'

They make excellent windscreen scrapers though! tbh I can almost always use them - if not they get passed on to someone who can.0

Unless it's a small local or very specific shop, I would have thought you could find something useful or nice to buy with them.
A lot of the major ones can be used on-line.
I would definitely consider re-gifting them where appropriate.
And, once when I was given one I really didn't want (it was a "thank you" from someone I barely knew) then I bought something and put it into a charity raffle.0 -
I am a member of a small internet group (Redbird's Chirpy Chat) which raises funds for animal rescues and donated gift cards are always welcome as prizes in the regular prize draws; winners often buying treat and telling us what it was.0

wow i have never had an unwanted gift card whatever anyone wishes to gift me i will use and treat myself or one of the family to something if i cannot find something i will give to one of my friends (never happens) as i will normally find something for one of us
I would never dream of putting them in the bin that is like putting your purse on the fire

What is this notion of an unwanted gift card? I'm trying to think of a time I would least want a gift card, assuming it had credit on it, empty ones just go in the bin. So say someone got me a gift card to a shop I can't stand and would absolutely never want anything they sell - I'd either regift the card, use it to buy a gift from said place for someone who likes that kind of thing, sell the card on Ebay... Err, what else?
I get vouchers for completing online surveys, sometimes it can take a while to use the voucher but I manage to use it in the end! I see them as free treat spends, so I might not have ordinarily bought those shoes if I had to use all my own money on them, but as I'm using the voucher I've got free or cheaper nice new shoes I wouldn't otherwise have got to have.0 -

It's mostly US based but you can find the odd UK gift card to exchange.0 -
I spend them but keep spare cards for hols to use in the keycard slot to keep the electric on
It means one person can go out with the keycard (in case I fall asleep) but the lights / aircon / kettle still work.

If you really have no use for them, OP, please, pass them onto Scouts to raffle?
We can *always* convert cards into money, and that into happy Scouts.0
