Cease and Desist template

I hope i am posting in the right place ....

I have just had a company called PRA GROUP contact me on my PAYG mobile number asking for Tara (didnt say my surname) my first name is that .. i asked who was calling to know the company name also they use the number 0300 066 3063

I dont know how they have obtained my mobile number how do i get them to stop phoning me further and i have no idea why they are phoning and if for a debt then i'd like them to prove that it is mine and from whom.

I am aware from their own website they deal with MACKENZIE HALL debt collection agency.

Would a cease and desist letter written be helpful and if so does anyone have a template format for one please. As i rarely give my mobile number to anyone that doesnt need it; i give my home phone number to companies.

How can they prove a debt is yours if you want them to stop ringing you and you wont talk to them and you wont give them your address to send the information too..... ?????
A cease and desist letter may work once you have proven the debt is not yours....

If they call again, you will need to formally request that they write to you in reference to any matter, or provide you with an address to write to them. Advise them that you will not communicate by telephone about any formal matter and insist that all correspondence must be in writing.

You may have to gie them your address to do this, or at least confirm it, as they must have at least one method of contacting you regarding the matter until it is closed off.

Let them write to you, then write back with the prove it letter and a formal request that no further telephone calls are made. Let them do the work.

You really need to know what this is about first, write and ask them for details of the alleged debt, ie, send the provit letter, once you are armed with this information, you can then tell them to jog on if its not you there after, or deal with it if it is.

Just ignoring them is never a good idea, as you could, potentially, end up with a CCJ and you wont of known anything about it.

Always best to find out what they want first.
