Mortgage lenders for ex-bankrupts

Options
Does anyone know which high street lenders will consider ex-bankrupts for a mortgage? My husband was made bankrupt May 2008, discharged May 2009. We know Nationwide are one of the high street lenders that do consider mortgages for ex-bankrupts, does anyone know of others?

  • Thanks ACG. Nationwide are ok to lend to us (we got approved a few weeks ago, but pulled out of the house purchase and are now buying a different property, and now Nationwide are just irritating us!). I just wondered if any others would entertain us now, as Nationwide are at the moment.

This is not a market in which you switch horses due to a little irritation.

  • I totally understand your point AMN, but when they won't even honour the DIP that is supposedly valid for 90 days, it just makes me wonder if I want to deal with a company that doesn't seem to know its own policies (every time we speak to someone at Nationwide we are told a different story)

Its not uncommon for call centre staff, at any lender, to give incorrect information it does happen quite often.

I would speak to a whole of market broker who has placed an ex-bankrupt in the last 6 months rather than going to the High Street.

You will end up with a High Street lender, it will just be via a broker.
