CCJ against my name re : Parking Eye from 2 yrs ago !

Please help - I've just been to my bank to apply for a credit card and they have refused me due a CCJ against my name ! My credit history has always been fantastic (recently purchased a new car on finance Nov'14).

I think the CCJ is for parking. I received a letter dated 20/02/15 from Debt Recovery Plus claiming I owed them £190 relating to parking charges from 17/04/2013 (almost 2 years ago). They claimed Parking Eye successfully obtained a CCJ against me.

Having looked online (back in Feb) most advice was to ignore letters from Debt Recovery Plus and they'd give up. Foolishly I thought it was a bog standard letter, as I mentioned, I'd recently purchased a new car on finance so definately didn't think I had any credit problems.

The original parking charge from 2 years ago was whilst parked in a local restaurant carpark. The restaurant customers are always receiving these letters and if you take them in, the owners ring up and have them cancelled due to them owning the land.

I just feel completely shocked, what do I need to do now. What a mess !!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

DRP may give up, but PE dont give up , they issued over 30 thousand court claims last year alone

plenty of other similar threads on the forum

just put some relevant search words like parking eye ccj into the forum search box and read what others have done already

some have paid £155 for a set aside etc, you will have to read all about the topic and decide what is best for you

the law changed in oct 2012 due to POFA 2012 , so before your incident, hence why the NEWBIES sticky thread is a good read , so 2.5 years since the law came in

"relating to parking charges from 17/04/2013 "

sorry redx , you might have skimmed over that

you will have to do a set aside , (quickly) this might reset the case and PE can try again , at which point you beat them

I hadnt skimmed over the date, I checked and it was after POFA 2012 came in and also after the advice on here changed to APPEAL AT POPLA too , obviously some time will pass before PE take out a court claim

using the search words in blue brought up loads of threads

    here is one

Check if the CCJ paperwork was sent to the correct address and name. If not you can try to get it set aside.

bit puzzled by your comment that you got ticket in carpark owned by restaurant who allow parking, while you were inside dining. Does that mean PE are chasing people for parking on land where they have no right to do so? surely that would be illegal ie obtaining money by false pretences

No. also I was not even driving the vehicle at the time, it was my wife as she was celebrating her birthday at the restaurant.
