pre employment checks?

Me (again)
My 'new' employer wants to complete pre employment checks.
As far as I am aware this is references from last 3 years, criminal disclosure (already completed - no issues) and right to work in the UK. They are also checking a fraud database.
Although my current employer has all of this item needs to be done again. (company i work for is being taken over incase anyone isn't familiar).
Can any of the above or anything else as a pre employment check reveal my BR? At no stage was i asked to declare this for my current or future employer.
I guess I may be worrying over nothing but I would rather keep my BR private and avoid another hurdle.
Thanks again

Your BR isn't a criminal matter or fraud so they shouldn't pick it up.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

Hi tigerfeet
Thanks for your reply. I did think the same thing. Just immensely stressed with this employment thing of late.
Am I right in thinking that only a credit check would uncover BR?0 -
Yep! either a credit check or if someone searches the IS site or The London Gazette.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

Oh good, and again I'm assuming that if they were going to conduct a credit check or do search the IS (damn it why does that exist?!) that they should be up front and inform me that that is what they intend to do?0

The other thing is that employers often google their prospective employees (or current ones!) so it might be worth just checking your own name/address to see if your Gazette entry comes up. As I complained previously, mine comes up on page 1 of a google search for my address (even without my name) so you might just like to check that too. However unless it's a condition of your employment then even if they find it, it's unlikely to make a difference.
I've come to realise that any right to privacy is lost once bankrupt!!0 -
The pre employment screening carried out for my employer includes a credit check but this is stated in the pack that the employee/applicant is asked to complete.
This is confidential information and therefore should not be shared with anyone who does not need to know - normally only someone in HR and possibly your line manager.
You could ask an open question - what does the screening cover?0 -
Hi elljay
I hope they don't snoop in that way
did a search and yes my name pops up. Not until page 3 even with my full name.
Address, even without name, well that just shows up straight away.
Flowerofscotland, I really don't want to ask the question to be honest. Quite a few other people are in the same position as me and they don't have an issue. I'd rather not draw attention to myself or this matter.
They have not mentioned any sort of financial checks though so I would have thought if this was required that I would need to be informed and consent to such check?
I can see this going pear shaped0
