Using University dentist trainees/students for free or cheap, any experience?

Hello

I need to get some treatment done to 2 teeth, we’re talking 100s which I don’t have at the moment, does anyone have experience with Using University dentist trainees/students for free? The ones done by students. Is it easy to be accepted and is there a long waiting list?

Thank you

I presume you live in London , in which case this is the information about treatment by dental students. http://www.guysandstthomas.nhs.uk/our-services/dental/patients/patients.aspx#na

The waiting list varies in time depending on what treatment you need. Not all treatment is offered .

each appointment will be two to three hours long , in term time only and with little flexibility over times.

You go there you - they need to know you haven't been to a dentist in the last six-months, or that your dentist refers you to them.
Then you wait again to be seen, the 'Professor' will be available for any second opinion. Indeed, if it's anything involved you likely to get someone senior doing it.
I've been referred for Root Canal - remembered afterwards the size of rods used, and for extraction - we both sweated on that one!

The one I went to is in Cardiff

yes I live in London, Guy’s is exactly the one that one of my old contacts had his work done at.

Is that the only Uni in London that does it ?

My friend always used Guy's as the students are EXTREMELY CAREFUL ( unlike some qualified, give us your money, dentists). The appointments do take longer, but the student is focussing 100%, and checked by the tutor.
If you have the opportunity, use them.

The link I sent is the only one in London that patients can self refer to see if they are suitable to go on the waiting list for treatment.

There are only a few dental schools in the UK and only simple types of treatment will be offered . Some dental schools have closed their waiting lists.
