buying curtains

I'm confused buying curtains. These are probably daft questions, so please be patient.

My entire curtain rail is about 55" across with a 48" drop, so when I select that size and place a 1 in the order number, will I get literally one separate strip of cloth as a single curtain or a pair of curtains?

I have the old eye hooks which fit in the hem at the top of the curtain then slide along a plastic rectangular rail at the top with a slot in, presumably these curtains are suitable but don't come with the fittings?

Are voile curtains just curtains without backing so they are just transparent enough to let some light through? Or are are they virtually see through?

The sizes they give you are for each curtain so if they say 54 by 48 each curtain will be 54 inches so you will get 2

You should always go bigger anyway so that they look nice when they are closed and have some folds.

Voile curtains - you can see through these at night from the outside if the room is lit but not normally during the day.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

No you won't - read further down and you will see in bold letters 'Sold as a Single Panel' - so if you enter the number 1, you get 1 curtain.

Curtains are sold as a pair. The link the OP gives and to which you refer is for a voile panel, normally sold singularly.

Op if you buy curtains, then it will be a pair of curtains unless it specifically says it is a single panel.

The link for the voiles (which aren't curtains) are sold both in panels (singles) or pairs. You need to specifically check.

So is it the fashion to use just one 'panel' nowadays drawn from one side, or are they sold as singles just in case of a tear in one of the pair?
