Mortgages for an ex bankrupt and previous repossession

Hi,
Can anyone help?
I went bankrupt over 6 years ago and had my home repossessed over 7 years ago.
Can anyone advise if there is a mortgage lender that would consider me?
It will be 6 years this September from when i was discharged! I would not apply for a mortgage until after September.
It will be a joint mortgage with my husband, he already owns his own home with an excellent credit history with no arrears what so ever.
My credit file is now squeaky clean and i am now rebuilding my credit back up, by using a credit card on a monthly basis and paying it off before the bill is due.
If anyone can help and recommend i would really appreciate :rotfl:
I must add before anyone asks he cannot afford on his own this is why we need the joint mortgage!

Hi,
With identical circumstances (other than I was the sole applicant) to you, I obtained a mortgage with the Halifax at below 3%.
You would both need (for the Halifax) at least a 'good' rating on Experian - I didn't have one and was turned down - but I won on appeal.
I would say that I was honest about the past, but to be fair, other than thanking me for my honesty, they weren't really bothered - it was a long time ago, blah.....
Good luck.

I really hope you can get sorted out with a mortgage.
You would be better getting a broker involved but I can see you've tried one but need to keep looking for one I think. You've posted this question a few times on more than one board so I think it would be helpful if you also said you'd tried YBS and Nationwide so people have the whole picture.
You need to search the bankruptcy forum a bit more too because I've seen loads of posts where people have been able to get a mortgage after discharge. One of the brokers will be along to help soon I suspect.0 -
Hi Both,
Thanks for your replies it makes me more positive.:j
lonestarfan - Ha ha yes i have, i bet i am driving people mad with most posts!
We have tried 2 separate brokers (both of which) have led us down the wrong path!
My husband has an excellent credit file, never had any arrears. Mine is quiet good now considering my past but i have a credit card that i buy the shopping etc on and pay off before it is due to help rebuild my credit file.
My husband rang The Nottingham Building Society and they are ringing us back this Sat.
Also looked at Leeds Building Society and they accept Bankrupts and repossessions after 6 years for both and they look promising so fingers crossed! We will be putting around 20% deposit down too.0 -
We are in a similar position (though no reposession) and have a telephone appointment on Friday with Melton Mowbray BS. I have found very little online about them but the manager looked at our credit files to check they were satisfactory before we arranged the appointment.£2 Savers club £0/£150
