Please help

Hi everyone,
Please can anyone help me, I have debts of £8,000 split between Bank of Scotland £1,800, Intellegence Finance £4,000, CITI £1,200 and Capital One £1,000. I am presently on a DMP with PayPlan, and was to begine with paying what I could afford £71.00 my finances have now changed ie better job, and now paying £176.00 per month. But I am desperate to come off this DMP, i am shortly getting married and my partner is not aware of these debts, I am so frightened to tell her, my ex of 20 years left and divorsed me as a result of the debts so I am scared the same will happen again, I know she is very understanding but as it was me who aquired the debt I feel very relictened to impose them onto her. As my financial situation has improved I was hoping to obtain a unsecured load for the £8,000 being fully aware I can only pay £176 per month, does any one know of a company who will help me and give me a fresh start.

Ps CITI have now placed my debt in the hands of a debt company Frederick International, who are threatening to take me to court, Bank of Scotland are charging me interest each month more than i am paying therfore this debt is just increasing

Yours Desperate

Hi there, to be honest I would stick with payplan rather than try and get a loan. you are presumably not paying interest with your creditors through payplan, whereas a loan will charge you interest and therefore will take you longer to pay.

Perhaps you should pick up the phone to Payplan and talk through your options with them, but I would be very reluctant to switch your debt to a loan - how would that make things better with your fiance?

  • Did your ex leave because you were running up these debts and not sorting them?

You are now on top of your debts, sorting them and improving your financial situation. Trust that the love between you and your partner is strong enough that she will understand. Taking this secret into your marriage is not a good idea.

Telling her about them is not imposing them on her.

Hi and welcome - like many people will agree - you made a change for the better by acknowledging you have debts. And a trouble shared is a troubled halved (somewhere in the marriage vows is a clause - for richer or poorer - sadly for my wife, its for poorer.
