Did Homebase give you an original quote of £15k and then reduce it to 38k if you bought it now?

As others have said, wait until you are living in your new home then take time to evaluate what needs doing. If this is not your forever house only do what will add value i.e get your money back.

With kitchens it's important to see how the current layout (that's if it has a kitchen - my first house didn't) works for you and then plan your new kitchen.

Good luck ( argos) who run the kitchens are a waste of space, the quality is so poor and if its the new essentials range don't expect it on time as they have a 3 month backlog
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Whether Homebase is the right place to purchase a kitchen is another question entirely.

  • Ok just back from homebase the man there said not to worry as nothing has actually been ordered yet and what i have is a loan offer to say i can get the loan if i want which is valid for 30 days. i said i wanted to cancel that and he said theres nothing to cancel and it wont be a agreement until i sign something saying so. Maybe i wasa worried about nothing it was just worded that everything was ordered yesterday.

Does it sound like thats it then? Do i have to do anything more if its just a loan offer? Thanks in advance

So he's saying you haven't ordered a kitchen? I don't see why they would check you for a loan if you are not ordering anything.

Homebase kitchens are built to order. So either you have ordered it and they are building it or not... surely you must know if you have ordered it or not. Do you have any paperwork?
  • The only paperwork i was given are a plan he did on his computer and a list of what is included units etc he said today he couldnt order it until he measures it at the house in person he went of measurements from the estate agents. I have no idea why he applied for the loan he said it was to check if i could get the finance option. I didn't sign anything and it seems i dont have an agreement?? Tho isnt a loan offer a agreement?he said it wont be until i accept the loan which i have 30 days to do. Im going to ring barclays in the morning

Please, for the love of all that is good in this world, do NOT go with Homebase. They took over a year to do my kitchen, they cocked up at almost every stage and I ended up all the worse for it. Please go with almost anyone else.

How can you build to order a kitchen you have not even measured up?

They are all build in standard sizes in factories and flat packed.

I used to work for this team for a few months, they are shipped in bulk from a company called interior solutions. Trust me they are poor, you will spend a lot of time chasing for damaged parts. only the high range are custom

    There staff hate the place
