FTB - Virgin Money

Hi all,

I am a first time buyer and would like some advice please.

So I approached a Mortgage Adviser because I was worried about my default 4 years ago. However he was able to get me an AIP with Virgin Money 04/03/15

My offer on a property got accept on Tuesday 11/03/15. I instructed a solicitor 12/03/15. Got a call today (13/03/15) to pay for the searches. Seeing my Mortgage Advisor to fill out the Mortgage application.

Please could you let me know how long It takes to get a Mortgage offer from.

I feel like I might kill over from all the stress and waiting. Lol

Thanks a lot

Yes - your mortgage advisor - they know your case and are best placed to advise you.

  • It depends.... apparently it can be as quick as 2 days though that's hard to believe and must be a one in a million. We've been waiting for close to 4 weeks now with Nationwide due to additional paperwork etc.

How much is the default for and is it satisfied? If so when was it satisfied.

I wouldn't part with a penny until you have a mortgage offer. Underwriters have not seen the case yet.

    Ok, thanks.

Gosh am worried now, lol. I will have call the solicitor first thing in the morning to put a hold on the searches until I get my offer.

I had two defaults back in 2010 for a total of £300. But it was satisfied in 2011.

I reserved a new build property on 22/2/15, got a DIP with Virgin on 26/2/15 after a meeting with our broker. Submitted all docs weeks ago, had the valuation done 6/3/15. Got told on Wednesday 11/3/15 that it's in a que for an underwriter to look at and we're still waiting!!!

Dont pay the solicitr anything yet. Searches should only really be started after you have your offer - unless speed of completion is an issue.

If you have passed a dip with virgin money I suspect you will be ok - although vm are not known for being fans of adverse.
