Lots of it will depend on your solicitor more than the lender - will also depend on circumstances to an extent.

OK, I suspect your best chance is to go through a broker - they should be able to give a little bit of clout.
If you are a "cream" client - no credit issues, low ltv, plenty of income it will be a lot quicker - they can use your p60 for income verification (rather than asking for an employers reference) and do a drive by valuation.
If it is a remortgage - why the hurry? are you looking for funds to do something?
