Hi guys,
This is a general question for anybody who does social selling etc.
I'm about to start a new venture of selling jewellery via both a website and "trunk shows".
I was just looking for any tips and tricks on how to approach people to book parties etc. I've actually worked as a telemarketer for a long time and book appointments is second nature normally to me but this is in a b2b context. Booking with friends and family etc feels very alien to me and I'm a bit nervous about the whole thing.
My whole business depends on this so it'd be great to hear from some pros. I would imagine there are peak/best times to book these for example first week after payday etc. Xmas etc.
Look forward to hearing all your hints!

What is a trunk show?
Isn't is better to find customers that aren't friends and family? Your friends and family will feel obliged to buy and may resent it.
I'd think your B2B experience could work well selling directly to businesses.0 -

Thanks for coming back to me. A trunk show is basically a jewellery party, just the company I've selected to work with call them thisThe idea is that I would initially start off with a few friends and family, they would invite their friends etc and I would start building my network that way and, in particular, not relying on my f+f etc.
I've got a few other things up my sleeve etc, however those who host Ann Summers parties, Body Shop at Home etc it would be great to hear how the first started out. B2c etc is a very softly softly approach compared to what I'm used to.
This would be a very small venture at first as I'm about to go on maternity and I'm really keen to be in this sort of market rather than b2b anymore0 -
If you are looking at Stella and Dot then I doubt you'll have any friends left once you try flogging that horribly expensive costume jewellery to them.
The prices are
Primark type jewellery which retails for around £5 for £80

If you don't believe me about the Prmark style, go to their huge store on Oxford street and actually see the choice of chunky bib style necklaces they have, all for less than a tenner.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks so much for the detailed answer. I got some knowledge for the trunk show when reading the post.0
