and hopfully no steps back.
Have paid off and closed BArclaycard :j but not without some disappointment first.
I called Barclaycard this time last month and was told that i would be able to balance transfer at the end of July with a rate of either 6.7% for LOB or 0% for 6 months. Great i thought so paid £700 in July leaving £162 to pay on 1st August.
While waiting for July to pass, i got a letter telling me that they had reduced my credit limit to £670. Not the best as i needed to BT £860 but hey, not the end of the world.
On 1st August i paid the OS balanace of £162 waited 2 days for it to clear then phoned last night to BT only to be told i wasn't being offered a BT rate.
Apparently the guy from July gave me the wrong information. I was then told that my limit had been reduced because i had told them i wanted to BT and I was seen to be a high risk customer. Since the balance was reduced, they decided to withdraw any BT offers and up my APR to 24%.
I just decided to close the account there and then as the balance i was transfering is 21%.
I am looking at this positivley now.
I have managed to clear my OD and one CC in 6 weeks and now have one CC and store card to deal with. By using the snowball calculator i should be debt free by May 2008!!!!!!
I have to say, and i'm sorry to say, I have only been able to pay these two debts off because tax credit made a @rse of my single claim and i was due a back payment for 6 weeks.
My only downfall is that i'm back at work and although i have internet access, all access to forums are blocked.
On the plus side, i have recommeded my collegues to pigsback, envirophone and quidco (although i don't get any money for that one). I also have them swapping £2 coins.
I've been back at work for 3 weeks now and have even managed to get OT for this afternoon and tomorrow meaning double time, been covering for my manager for 2 weeks meaning a higher rate of pay and wangled a week off next week without having to take leave. MAgic

Sounds like you are well on your way to becoming debt free :T
But I am a little concerned that your work block access to all forums - HOW VERY DARE THEY!!!!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Hi
Well done so far.
Keep us postedIf you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
forgot to put on this that i paid my last payment to my sister for her catologue. I bought furniture out it for DS1 bedroom before xmas but have over paid this month meaning no more payments. I now have an extra £40 to throw to the other debts.
Didn't go to work today - went to the salon to get waxed instead it does cost £5 but last longer in the long run and there is no way on earth i could wax myself - too sore. i'd rather pay someone to hurt me.
I have to say that i feel the biggest thing that is helping me throw every spare penny at my debts is (apart from MSE) online banking. I check it 4 times a day just to make sure. I also registered for it for the CC's.
I reckon it's a must for all DFW's
Thanks for the encouragement guys.Official DFW nerd no 551 - proud to be dealing with my debts
