Gifted deposit in a will

Hi Any help would be much appreciated.

Last year I bought a house with money gifted to me from my partner at the time, who was terminally ill. The mortgage is solely in my name. The understanding in her will was that I was to raise our child and her children from a previous relationship, but due to circumstances beyond my control I only have our son here with me now. Her family and their solicitor want me to sign a deed of trust so that the money that was gifted is divided between the children when my son turns 18 or after 6 months if I remarry. I have no problem with the children having the money but I'm begrudged to have a timescale put on it. I was wondering if I am legally obliged to sign anything?

A solicitor works for their clients and follows their instructions.

The deposit was gifted to you. I gather your deceased partners family have taken the children despite
what you partner wanted and stated in her will.....


What are they expecting you to do, sell the house and divide the money?


Like the other poster says, see a solicitor.
