Practical help with excessive sweating

Oh bless your poor OH - he sounds like he's going through 'the change'. Would any of the natural remedies (obviously not hormone replacement and the like
) used by ladies in their middle years be of any use to him?
My younger brother suffered from excessively sweaty palms and I think underarms too. About 15 - 20 years ago he had an operation to sever the nerves that made his palms sweat (this was in the stone age before botox:rolleyes:). The op worked very well for him.
I'd be chasing the endocrinologist. I hope you find a solution soon.

Oi you lot - pleaseGIVE BLOOD
- you never know when you and yours might need it back! 67 pints so far.

Thanks for all the suggestions, which I shall discuss further with him. Although at the moment, a wet wipe would be about as much use as a paper towel in sorting him out - we'd get through a packet every day, if not more!
He's a bit loathe to try too many things out: we did have an alternative remedy which worked well for a while, never completely but life was tolerable. He's taking a break from that (since it wasn't having the desired effect anyway!) to see if that helps, or if re-starting it in a month or so will help.
Meanwhile, sage tea anyone? bought some fresh bunches yesterday and have a brew in the fridge for him!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Hi. I too suffer with eczema so know all about reading ingredients & paying through the nose for 'hypo-allergenic'! I have to say that my situation doesn't sound as bad as your poor chap, but would like to offer my ha'penny worth.
One thing I use is bog standard witch hazel in a spraying bottle. I dilute it approx 2 parts water to 1 part witch hazel & use as a body spray---just let it dry before getting dressed.
Added bonus is the perfume doesn't wake up my allergies, & WH is good for sprains & bruises!
I would echo the damp flannel too. I find it sooooo refreshing using very warm water, particularly along the back of my neck.
Definately going to try the sage tea....I've got a purple variety growing in the garden-would that be OK?Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

how about a microfibre sports towel then? takes up next to no space at all, but are supposed to be able to absorb as much water as your average bath sheet, if not more. failing that, go for the OS attack... invest in a mr savvy sue sized mangle :rotfl:
sage tea? he's a braver man than me(although i dont drink any sort of tea, so i guess im not much of a test case)!!

Don't know how I missed those last two posts, but Big Mumma I guess purple sage would work, but I'd google it - I had to google to find out how much sage to use. Will talk to him about witch hazel ...
pavlovs_dog, I did buy some microfibtre towels. I can't stand them because you have to blot rather than rub, and also they 'catch' on any little bit of rough skin. He doesn't like the feel of them either, says it's because they're polyester not cotton but I suspect it's because they 'catch' on his skin, which is currently the texture of coarse sandpaper ...
Not holding my breath, but I think he's been OK today ...Signature removed for peace of mind0
