Confused plpease help

My neighbour is confused he received his pension from the Pension Protection Fund because the Pension scheme he paid into went bust which he was not aware of until being told by the Pension Protection Fund.

He also found out he is not receiving a pension as per say but compensation instead. He is receiving ESA Income-related support Group. His compensation is £240.00 per month which is £60 per week he does not pay any tax on his compensation, his tax code is 1000L

The only money he is receiving is ESA Income-related £247.00 per fortnightly and the compensation of £240.00 per month he receive no other money or benefit.

He would like some advice if the compensation of £60 weekly affect his ESA Income related, would DWP deduct money from his ESA Income-related. The DWP has been made aware of his pension a letter from the Pension Protection Fund and bank statement has been provided to show what he gets.

Is there a difference between a Pension and a Compensation or are they class as the same thing.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
