    Installers may not be too keen on the idea but it shouldn't be too difficult to support one end (or even both if it's a detached property) of the railings with metal struts fixed to the wall(s). That's not really any different to the way one might build out a canopy for use as a carport, porch etc.

    That would probably be allowed, but I wasn't thinking of anything that dramatic. I measured more carefully and I make it 7080mm long - it's definitely more than 7m, but not by much. I was thinking if it was just a case of needing say another 100mm or so the eaves could be extended at reroofing to overhang more at the gable end. They already overhang about 200mm.

    But anyway I think the project is viable whether it can be done with 14 285W panels or 12x 330W.
