Accidentally entered without ticking boxes!

Started comping yesterday, and already learnt my first lesson the hard way... I accidentally tapped the enter key before I got a chance to select not to have my details sent to third parties!
Note to self: Check the boxes before filling in my details!
I've also had a couple of junk emails at my new address already, presumably from the extra offers at the end of some magazine site comps. Some of these don't offer a 'not interested' option, like the flights one; how do I avoid them? I just select 'other' and hope for the best...

Welcome to the world of comping -- soon you will be getting 1000+ emails a day like most people on here, it is just what comes with compingYes, I know there is no "R" in the word dream in my username - it was setup in memory of my grandson :A0

You'll always get some- ticking the boxes reduces the spam but won't stop it completely anywayI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
Have you thought about using a different email just for comping obviously you will still get the junk but it is better than it coming to an email address you use for everyday purposes0

I've been trying an experiment, I ignore the tick boxes unless I am forced to address them, my reasoning is you only have to forget once to undo all that time consuming effort that went before.
I have seen no increase in spam emails, although I've had a slight spam increase in snail mailings.
And more time for actual comping.
I'd say just ignore them. They will do what they will do regardless of what you tick.
I cite the Daily Telegraph who call so often no matter what you tick that you get to recognise their number which has never once been answered.
Let them waste their efforts.0 -

The ones that get me are the comps that give you a list of offers to reject before you can submit. I've accidentally hit yes a few times by going too quick and it processes it straight away as a yes meaning I can't change it. If you click no, it only processes it when you hit the final submit.

I emailed the company and they said they kindly offered to amend the contact preferences for my entry. Hopefully not too much hassle for the person who has to do it, but it was that company's decision to use those tactics.
At this rate it won't be long until I just give in and stop worrying about it though.0 -

An inbox full of junk just comes with comping, but in amongst all that junk, sometimes there is a little ray of sunshine so do remember to check it properly.2017 wins = £1350
2016 wins = £125 (18 months off comps)
2015 wins = £6,460
2014 wins = £1,3500
