I can confirm that the 2.99 uncle bens coupon in the star WILL NOT scan without buying the product. However good news is Tesco have the Indian wrap kit for £1.99 so you can use the coupon and get £1 off your shopping (or buy more star's in my case!!!)

Also - not newspaper related but i noticed in store today tesco are selling gift cards for - Red Letter Days, Tussauds group attractions, Spa Days and a well known hairdresser group (cant remember which one). Works the same as other gift cards as far as i can see, take to the checkout and load it up for however much you want.
The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow, For children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep. I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.

If you actually do want to buy the book with the book token, is it any book in particular?

Its the one pictured on the voucher that you have to buy at normal places but as we know, at Tesco, you can buy a differnt book or just buy bread an milk etc!

Book voucher wouldn't scan for me in Tesco and unfortunately for me, new supervisor who didn't know the policy on using vouchers if you don't buy the product so a bit of a hassle. Eventually resolved (after a long wait though) when she sought the advice of someone on customer service, but the reason for accepting the voucher was

Supervisor: Do you have a clubcard?
    Ms Choc: Yes
Supervisor: Well as a loyal customer with a clubcard we can accept the voucher on this occasion.

What a load of bull !!
