Amazon - Lost Purchase

Last week, I purchased my wife an IPad from Amazon. As seems to the norm these days, Amazon waited 3 days to initiate the dispatch, and I was sent tracking information with an expected delivery date of tomorrow - even though it was out for delivery on Saturday. This morning, I looked at the tracker only to find the package has been lost in transit. I called Amazon who expressed no great surprise. Confirmation that a full refund has been made was received an hour later. I just wonder how many more high value items just disappear?

I've had not very high purchases (CDs for example) not show up. Hate to say it but this seems to have gotten worse since Royal Mail stopped delivering for them. Not all couriers are bad by any stretch, just that it's been my experience that I have to report more items for not showing up than I used to a few years back.

A while back I ordered something with them, and the postman just decided to leave it on my doormat. Of course, it disappeared, probably stolen. But it just took me one quick call with Amazon to get them to send out a replacement for a day when I was in, with instructions to have me sign for it.

I'm not sure how many things go missing, but Amazon's customer service has always been really good for me. Sucks for them though, I'm sure it must be annoying to have some things just never make it to their customers.
