God help the Farmers

This is not directly money related so I'm sorry about posting this but just when so many people are struggling with a bad summer and farmers losing crops galore they have now been hit with Foot and Mouth again in the South of England.

I don't know if there are any farmers amongst us but I am praying for you all and your animals that this horrible disease does not take hold again like it did in 2001 and anihilate the businesses of so many people - not just farmers - but others who trade alongside them.

Finances are tight for all with the interest rate increases, fingers crossed this is a small shortlived outbreak.

    God help the farmers.

A sincere and heartfelt 'Amen' to that.

Well not good news at all. I read not long ago that some farmers were in a desperate situation and this could push many of them out of business and into debt. Hopefully some of them may end up on here and can receive the support and advice that the forum offers

  • A heartfelt echoing of the above sentiments - lets hope that they have found another way of dealing with it, unlike last time - farmers and their families watching helpless whilst their life's work is salughtered. Also hope that the gov. this time provides decent compensation and quicker than last time - too many people lost everything waiting for the gov. to help.

There is a livestock movement ban in place from today. I feel for you, I am thinking God my husband, who is a countryside ranger, completed all their cattle movement last week.

The farm in question supplies my local butcher (it's about 10 miles away), on a money saving note it means that my meat costs will go up (or rather our meat intake will go down!) as the buther will have to source meat from further away.
