Hi, looking for some advice really.
I am in the process of purchasing a flat and have accepted formal mortgage offer. Solicitors are now in liason and searches are commencing . My lender is Santander and they keep offering me their 123 current acount , I'm interested in opening it for the multitude of perks but is it wise to do that now ( as it's a product from my actual lender) or wait until Completion in 2 months ? ? ?
Thanks

We opened one when we were applying for a mortgage with them. I actually asked about the credit check thing, they said it was part of the same footprint (which was actually bobbins, because it did show up as a separate search) but it didn't cause any issues at all (that said, I didn't have any other recent searches apart from the AIP). I also note that the didn't credit search again after the AIP, but I have no idea whether that's standard or not for them.
We set it up so that the first mortgage payment would go out of it. Someone who actually knows something will probably comment soon, but it'd be nuts to attempt to sell a product then reneg on your promise of another product because someone took you up on it... Not that that means anything in the real world!0 -
Thanks for sharing that . Any other advice anyone?0

Usually a bad idea to make any credit applications just before getting a mortgage, and a bank account with overdraft facility is one, but in this case it's likely to be fine. Just go ahead and do it since you'll want the account anyway.0
