Funding options for mature student
Options
Hi,
I'm currently attending interviews for 2 year Diploma Paramedic Practice courses starting in 2015. I would have applied for the 3 year BSc option if I had not been worried about funding.
It appears that I am not eligible for a student loan as I already have a first degree. I paid my student loan off within 3 years of finishing my degree. At 35 I am hoping to switch career.
So far a career development loan appears to be my only option. The form has been sent so I shall see if I am eligible.
Are there really no other sources of funding/ loans out there for a student who already has a degree.
Thanks

As paramedic practice is one of the only non nhs funded degrees it appears there isnt any help for someone with a degree already.
Im aware the government is possibly starting 10k postgrad loans for 2015/2016 but i believe they only provide them for masters, but a possibility to look intoThis years income boosting

There's been talk of loans for students on postgrad programs up to 10k, I'm sure. Also look up PCDLs - Professional and Career Development Loans - available from some banks!0

The Open University is migrating over to funding students under the same scheme as all other British universities. The student loan is available to everyone doing a qualifying course (higher education not further education) as long as this is for your first undergraduate degree.
There is some confusion because during the transition, existing students get the old fees, new students get a loan.
If you log onto their website and click on a course choice, you will be given the funding options available to you.0
