you tube video's with music

Hello

m I right in saying that ALL you tube videos, posted by individuals, with a music background are blocked due to copy right? I posted one of our local karaoke night at the pub once and it was blocked (but more likely to due to high pitch of the 'singer'). If that is the case though, how do these people who post a music track where theyve put the lyrics on go about this? What about that man , a few years back , who videod himself singing along to a chart song in front of his webcam?

Not sure if it is the right place to ask (boost your income forums) nor I know the answer. Copyright isn't as straightforward, I'd suggest to search google to get an idea.

No. All music is automatically copyrighted to the artist who created it. However, some artists give permission for their music to be used although the permission varies. Some will allow commercial use (allowing you to make money from the content) and others will say non-commercial only. Also some songs are no longer copyrighted due to being old.

Some youtubers will have gained permission from the artist for a song to be used, but that does not mean that everyone has the right to use the song, only that individual for what they've gained permission for.

Some videos stay up simply because Youtube haven't blocked the songs, they haven't been reported by viewers and the person who owns copyrighted hasn't complained. Others stay up because the video creator has changed the song in some way and it counts as fair use or they've only used a few seconds of a song.

Some songs are blocked, although sometimes just in certain countries.

Youtube doesn't block videos based on pitch. Either the song was one that is blocked or someone reported it.

What you do with a You Tube video is to upload it without music and then go to the edit option and choose from a huge selection of songs from their own library which won't have any copyright infringement.
