mortgage application

Hi me and my partner are applying for a mortgage and I am just wondering if the bank contacts your employer during the process? I have provided last 3 months payslips and bank statements but wasn't sure if they would contact them as a reference like when you apply for a new job?
Thanks in advance for replies 👍

No I just haven't been through this process before and just wanting to reassure my partner as she feels that something is likely to go wrong. Our ifa has done our help to buy application and we qualify but she is still worrying.0 -
We are applying with Leeds BS and they wrote to employers for references, we chased them through and it was sorted in a few days. They are basically clarifying how long the employment has been and confirming the wage ect. Our broker told us it was pretty standard procedure for a lot of lenders to write to your employers.0
