Do you do a Spring clean?

And in the modern home is there still a need for a deep spring clean and if so what does it actually entail?
I hear many people talk about deep cleans and searched a few sites but not really come up with a proper definition or list of what this entails.
I am admittedly a bit of a neat freak (I clean my double glazing tracks and iron my shower curtain) but I feel as though this is something I should be doing.
So what does a deep clean mean to you? I have this image of removing every bit of furniture from my home

Can I ever learn this budgeting lark? So far it's not looking promising

I've never quite understood the expression 'deep cleaning'. According to a friend who lives the other side of the pond it's their term for Spring cleaning. Other than carpets most household surfaces can only be cleaned on the surface. If it refers to washing curtains, cushion covers etc then I do those as and when needed, maybe two or three times a year.
As I'm at home all day my cleaning gets done on a rota, one room per week while the others gets a cursory vac, polish, wipe or whatever is needed.
I have two sets of cleaning equipment, one upstairs, one down, and am fortunate to have two vacuum cleaners as I can't carry one up the stairs any more. So no need to go to great lengths once or twice a year to keep my home clean. Simply put, when I see, or think I see, dirt, I clean it.0 -
Spring clean? No, I clean a little every day.
I am going to change some curtains for the warmer weather on the 2 big sliding doors. I am going to take down the winter thermal lined thick curtains and replace with viole ones.I also have solar curtains up. silver on the window side and white on in inside. The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
I would clean places that aren't usually seen - eg top of kitchen cupboards. Also things like wiping down all skirting boards. But since I've been de cluttering I've found that more areas of the house are visible so I clean them more often, iykwim.I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:0

I do, but mainly because
a) I'm lazy and things like washing curtains/carpets/woodwork/walls/insides of cupboards etc would only get done once a year anyway and
b) I have an open fire and the living room especially really does need a special clean once I stop using it in the spring.
I also use 'Spring Cleaning Time' to clean any other things that don't get done in with the regular clean eg radiators, light fittings, legs and undersides of tables, chairs, behind/underneath heavy pieces of furniture, properly wash ornaments etc , mend/restore anything that's got tatty or broken over the year and re-organise cupboards or change room layouts etc.
I tend to do it in stages though - a quarter/corner of a room at a time then the middle.
This is the time when I'll also do an OCD type clean of things that usually only get dusted or wiped (this often involves toothbrushes, cotton buds and heavier duty cleaning fluids) which I think might be what is meant by 'Deep Clean'
When I worked in a shopping centre, the toilets would get the usual mopping, wiping and pan cleaning several times a day but once every six months they'd be closed off for the day and the cleaners would scour all the walls/surfaces/doors/floors and scrub out all the nooks & crannies in the corners and crevices and around fittings/handles and hinges etc. This was always referred to as a 'Deep Clean'.....Don’t try to keep up with the Jones’s. They are broke!0
