She managed to get the mortgage in the first place without you there helping/taking over!

I hate to sound suspicious, but I can't help but wonder if your motives for cutting her out of the process of dealing with her own sole mortgage are as pure as they sound.

You're right - I could be a nefarious individual trying to hoodwink my partner.

Or, of course it could just be that my partner has zero interest in financial matters and isn't a native English speaker so struggles with accents on the phone.

I guess we'll just have to come to terms with your suspicions in our own way.

If you are looking to move, why bother?

You might as well sell the current property in her sole name and buy the new one in joint names.

This is the thing though. We don't know what we want to do yet and what we will ultimately decide will depend on some discussions with Halifax over the phone. It could even involve us not moving at all for a while.

I quite enjoy sorting this sort of stuff out, and my partner really doesn't. She doesn't like comparing mortgages or ammortization schedules and she isn't the one with the moneysavingexpert account ;-) - so she prefers me to handle this sort of stuff whilst she handles the things that she is good at/interested in.

We would have ideally liked to have just put me on the mortgage to balance our relative interests in the property, but then we realised it implies quite a large cost that we don;t want to pay yet.

If they cost had been more like 100 quid, we probably wouldn't even be discussing it.

    Many thanks

As Red-Squirrel says, she secured the mortgage on her own so can obviously discuss such matters herself.

Reading old posts - they are very much centred around what is best for you.

Guys - seriously - go back to reading the Daily Mail.

Not everyone is out to cheat and steal their way through life. You know next to nothing about the situation so save the disparaging comments for situations where you are better informed
