Barclaycard credit history

I am in the process of applying for a mortgage and after many years of payplan and watching my credit history I thought I was clear ....then ...Slight twist
I have checked my paperwork and my Barclaycard account was sold in 2008 and I subsequently received a CCJ from CL finance in 2008 which dropped off my history last year BUT for some reason Barclay card were updating my credit file til 2013 on the old card.
Just contacted Experian to try and sort this.
I am presuming Barclaycard should have stopped updating credit history and shown default once it turned into a CCJ in 2008 not 2013.
Just spoke to Barclays and they have passed it up the line. They acknowledge no payments were received since 2008 but cannot see who they sold it to .. Then they say they get a few payments in 2013 which is when I was told it was paid off as I actually received money back from Robinson way who took the account from CL finance.
Hope the above makes sense I think I am asking has anyone had this before and or am I right in saying that Barclaycard should not update my history after they sold it in 2008
