    hmmm. dilemma indeed.
<edited as you answered my questions>

have you met your new team?

have you looked around the new office/place of work?

what was the impression you got of the new company?
    you partly answered this.

do you see this new job as a career limiting or career enhancing step?

    Hey there!

I haven't met my new team, just my new boss. My direct office would only include me, the boss and a graduate.

I haven't seen the workplace but he has offered a visit - which I will take, I feel it's important to get a feel for the place and the people who work there every day.

The job would be career enhancing to a degree, managing processes while boss is away - as well as 'micro managing' the grad. The team I'm currently with are all similar level and we have other staff to manage the processes.

Workload would be same too, if not lighter! :)

Ask them to prepare a conrat for review, with details of the offer in writing and in the terms. Ask if you could spend a half day with the team to see how things are done - it shows an active interest and gives you a chance to think more rationally about things, as well as test the journey and people.

You're right about not handing in any notice until you have a contract in your hand and the offer in writing with ALL the extras included. Good luck with your decision.

Is it £10k total or + bonus + car allowance.

Check the pensionable pay, and holidays

One way to protect yourself with the move is a long notice/exit clause which gives a minimum payout if they decide it is not working.

After a period you then revert to a regular notice period.

eg, miniumum payout of 6 month in the first year or longer. to be fare with that you also may need to have extended notice if you think it is not working.

If you are under market and the current place is just letting things drift then whats to keep you, they and others there will have no loyalty if things got tough.

Move and cherry pick as the new place expands(ask about recruitment bonus)
