Clear limits for informing OR of additional payments

What is the ORs office advised about taking additional payments? I have an IPA (6 months since going BR) and told the OR that I had £65 extra one month. I was told to pay it direct to their office (not via Clarke Willmott).

However on another thread, someone has been advised that the £50 she might get for scrapping her car does not need to be disclosed - perhaps the rules are different if you already have an IPA.

Is there any guidance on amounts? Having just received notification that my state pension is going up by about £12 a month, do I need to disclose that?

My income varies all the time and I've only just done another IPOQ. At this rate I'll be doing one a month, they must be sick of me making so much work!

Hi as far as I know the rules are you must notify them within 21 days of any change to your financial circumstances. there does seem to be a difference between different O.Rs as to what they take, but I would always inform them.

I would personally speak directly with your OR/Examiner and ask what levels they would expect you to report at. My experience when dealing with Clarke Willmott is that they would take everything above your agreed allowance even if that was 1p!

They won't want to keep redoing your IPA, so it's probably best to ask them if it can be done on an average. This would mean if you earnt a little under your average the IPA amount would take this into consideration along with if you earn't over your amount. My IPA is based on an average and it works for me as my income goes up and down every month with being self employed and I have a very reasonable Examiner/OR.

Mine wouldn't be bothered about a £12 increase, but your Examiner/OR might be :)

The value of scraping the car is much the same as selling kids clothes your kids have grown out of on ebay in order to buy new stuff that does fit them - selling things you no longer want at a car boot sale is not really earned income. I wouldn't declare this sort of thing to the OR but earned income from your work is treated differently.

Was the extra money actual earned income? I occasionally have more in my pay packet but its only a refund of petrol expenses which is not earned income and doesn't have to be declared to the OR. If you have the option to work extra hours then while BR or on an IPA, there isn't much incentive to do overtime I guess.
