NHS 1995 section Total Reward Statements Query

Hi all,

Think I'm just being a bit thick, but after having enrolled for the new online Total Reward Statements I'm a bit confused by my current statement.

I'm only in the 1995 section, & have had periods of NHS employment on & off, with my last brief employment ending in 03/88.

I got a paper statement back in 06/13 which put my pension at £1365 p.a. but my new TRS has it as £1326 p.a. Not a huge change, bu I wasn't expecting it to be less & wonder why it has gone down. Hope it doesn't keep going down every year as they'll be nothing left when I actually retire - so what am I missing :rotfl:

Thanks in advance.
And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...

  • If you got your paper statement from Nhs pension agency it will be abit higher than the estimate from your sbs pension estimate ( total rewards statement) as this is more accurate ,that is what I was told .

Thanks - who has told you that?

I'm expecting I'll just have to accept that the TRS is "more accurate" than the paper one from years ago - I'd like to know why though. TRS also insist I don't have a completed expression of wish form even though I've had it confirmed in writing, with a copy of said form.

Maybe there are teething problems with the website? I've emailed both queries to them via TRS, but haven't had a reply yet & its been 10 days.

Anyone else see information they don't think is correct?

I'm retiring in August from the 1995 scheme, I got two estimates one from pension agency and the other from the trust pension.I was told by the pension advisor that the trust pension was the more accurate one, which was the lesser of the two .But come April I will get a new forecast.

Ok - thanks for clarifying that. Let's hope your new forecast in April doesn't go down again too.

Curious to know why there would be a difference, especially for those of us who aren't contributing any more & haven't for some years. Is this difference purely down to inflation? I'm obviously not a pension's expert (sure that's a given to all of you :rotfl:) but what else would change in my forecast calculation?

Apologies if I'm being thick here.
