Have been lurking for months reading the message boards.
My wife is fed up with hearing about this site and considers me either eccentric or barking mad!:D
Due to information taken from these boards we successfully claimed back a mortgage exit fee of £235 and next month we begin to overpay on our mortgage in an attempt to finish it in 5 years rather then the scheduled 12 years - although next year may be a little tricky as we could well have both our boys away at Uni - and those who have kids at university can testify to how expensive that can be.

Hi Yog
MSE is kinda addictive huh, I reckon once your OH takes a proper look and starts reading she'll be just as eccentric as you
Glad to hear you've taken the good advice on here and used it well

Hi Yog - and welcome to DFW - I know exactly what you mean about kids at uni  . My youngest daughter has just graduated, so she, effectively escaped the latest hike in fees. Wouldn't mind quite so much if Tony Blair and Gordon Brown made a 'gesture' by returning the fees that the then government paid on their behalf.
As previously said - a wide range of subjects for discussion, with lots of free advice and support.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Thanks for the welcome to everyone. I must say that for someone who used to be totally cr*p with money a site like this can really change your outlook.
I think this has a great sense of community and I am often humbled by the kindness of those helping the posters who have asked for advice!0 -

Hello
It's good to talk to people who are also addicted to the site and have the money saving bug, most of my friends think I'm a bit mad as they think that all you need to do is tart on 0% credit cards and never pay it all back.Mortgage OP 2026 £640/2000Mortgage balance: £32,222
