Wed 4th March - What small DFW-style things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:money:

    Morning DFW-Jedis,

Well, life goes on, as does the almost everlasting quest for solvency and sanity.

I should be in work today but have taken the very bold decision not to go as I'm not well. There's no way I can stand up for a ten hour shift with this cold-flu-thingy having returned. I'll probably be disciplined for absence but I'm putting me first for a change.

    The List:

:starmod: Check online banking and reconcile monies.

:starmod: Turn off electric alarm clock at the wall til tonight.

:starmod: Dress warmly to stay comfortable.

:starmod: Drink homemade lemsip-alternative: hot water, lemon juice, honey, ground ginger and two paracetamols on the side.

    :starmod: No spend day.

    :starmod: Read new online.

That's all for now. Good luck on your quests, Jedis.

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning All

Ally- thanks for starting the thread today.

So I am up and quite excited about the thought of getting some cakes made today. I just need to stop into a supermarket on my way to get some basics. Will make use of any nectar points earned. I've done quite well on points in the past whilst the business was open as often spending £30 a day stocking up on stuff.

Fiddled about with the banking and transferred the CB into the main account. Need to do quick meter reads before I leave for work.

Carrie -every outdoor cat I know of is a mouser I'm afraid. But you could go down the indoor cat route? My friends cat used to bring in epic creatures. A bat. A mole. A baby rabbit. They lived in the country and in the end the cat went feral and stayed away. They are not kind creatures I'm afraid.

    Morning folks,

Ally - thanks for starting us off. Hope you feel better soon. That bug went round my office. It was horrendous.

    Twiggy - again, good luck!

Bob - I think I've been lucky in that the cats my parents have had couldn't/can't seem to catch things. Cat 1 was old and toothless when we got her (and such a softie - loved that moggy). Cat 2 is quite lazy and not much brains. She also has a bell which helps. The birds taunt her. lol.

    Ok, the list!:
    • Charge phone in work
    • Check online banking and reconcile spreadsheets
    • B/L/D from stores
    • Log calories in free app
    • Take stuff to charity shop at lunch time
    • Housework to rota (already cleaned 1 bathroom)
    • Read Martin's email
    • Steer clear of the plonk. Been an angel all week (anticipate a heavy weekend. LOL)
    • Tidy house - new windows are being put in tomorrow! I'm so excited! We're getting windows that are a: double glazed b: will seal shut properly and c: will open and close!!!
    • Take meter readings so we can see what difference the windows make
    Have a good one all

    Good morning.

    Today's list:

    BLD from stores
    Charge phone at work
Think up an all singing all dancing poster for the A-board...the block is being modernised so people are seeing all the building stuff and fences and thinking the shops are closed. Might get DS1 on that little project...
    NSD hopefully
    Hoover downstairs
Check one poll, etc, had 3 surveys yesterday and was screened out for them all. Did have a YouGov survey tho, so I'm halfway there with my points for that
    .

Hope you all have a good day. Sun is shining, but it's very chilly.

    I have indoor kitties :-)

Hi all - good luck with all your plans!

I'm having a NSD (brought packed lunch and dinner is leftovers)
Need to finish off setting up YNAB tonight
More trawling through bank statements etc

I've got loads of clothes which need little repairs so I'm hoping to do some sewing tonight - will hopefully make it feel like I have some new things without spending any money!
