O/S Daily Wednesday 4th March 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now getting light, clear sky so we’ve possibly had a touch of frost. Dry underfoot. Load in WM.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 getting ready for work. Will get DS2 up for school shortly.

Dinner last night was scampi, chips and beans/veg for the menfolk, I had salmon en croute, jacket potato and veg. Tonight will be pork steaks, mash, veg and gravy.

Yesterday work was fairly busy in the morning but then we lost the computer systems completely at lunchtime and we didn’t get them back for the rest of the day – a complete nightmare as majority of our work is on that part of the system. They are hoping we’ll have them back today but there’s no guarantees – I’m actually doing a slightly different job so won’t be quite so affected – we’ll see. Luckily I’m only working until lunchtime anyway – then have a nail appointment, and want to get my normal jobs done too. Have a busy day tomorrow too so will just keep plodding away, getting everything done steadily.

Mood still better than it was but just trying to keep busy – for me that’s key – don’t want to have time to sit and let my mind wander, this is when I go downhill, busy is best!

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Hopefully today's weather will be better, yesterdays snow was awful, took me ages to get to work. It rained later with sleet and hail mixed in! Skies look quite clear today so fingers crossed.

DW on, washing just finished, that can go in the conservatory and will dry quickly if the sun shines. Last night I had chicken stir fry, I added oyster sauce and it was delicious. DD had some bean burger type things from Asd@, they were horrible. Certainly wont be buying them again.

Spinach fritata (sp) and salad for my lunch and I will do pasta for tea, DD is day off so we can eat earlier than usual.

Going to pick up another car today, I've had enough of this one already. It has only been here for 6 months but I am frightened of it! It has low profile tyres and seems to slip and slide all over the place. Also didn't realise how much I would miss having an estate car so going back to that. Not very MSE but need to feel safe.

Hope everyone is well, take care. XX

    Morning everyone.

Made the drive down this morning, a bit slow but I'm back at work. Roads were wet and dirty. Only difficult part was over the RABT but the road was clear and the drive through Camelot's bit was fine.

Got huge piles of paper on my desk so must get down to them today. Having breakfast and brought some chicken for lunch.

I'm going to set my phone alarm to go off every hour so that I get up and walk around. Will even go for a short walk outside, must get moving more as I tend to plonk myself down and hardly move .

Hope the weather is easing for everyone.

    Morning :hello:

We really need to replace the fence around the chicken run but don't have time at the moment. It's not tall enough and I have five escapees :D I tied bamboo canes to the fence posts and ran a roll of 2' wide green chicken wire around them, above the top of the existing fence. It's not very pretty but it'll do for now. I can now put grass seed down – to replace the grass that was eaten by the escapees - without it being eaten in five seconds flat :D

I've planted coriander, parsley, basil and chive seeds. And mustard and cress – I love that in my salad rolls.

I'm going to scrub the patio today. It'll be nice to see it stay clean – there's usually at least one stray chicken on there, making a mess :D

Friends are coming round tonight. They were supposed to be popping in for a cuppa, but mr tru sent them a message last night inviting them for a meal, then told me afterwards. So now it's A Thing, he's at work all day and will be home just before they arrive. I'm not sure who he thinks is going to cook, but I'm not bluddy doing it  He knows I hate this sort of thing, especially when it sprung on me at the last minute and I have no choice.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

I have a busy day today and I am panicking a bit because of it so I will keep this brief. DD12 has the orthodontist at 9am so I have to ring to book a taxi in a minute and then I am hopefully starting my crochet class at 10am, must double check that is the right time. DD14 was sent home yesterday after she had a big panic attack so I need to organise a doctor's appointment for her too as this has been going on for a while now. My friend wants to come over this afternoon and we are on emergency electric so I have to go to town and charge up the key. I feel very wobbly today so this is not going to be fun.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Good Morning Everyone,

Frosty morning here and it feels cold indoors.
Tru i know exactly what you mean, i detest when DH does anything like that and he always does it when he isn't going to be around so he leaves everything to me.

Big list of chores to get through today, DS has a late start for work today so he will be giving a helping hand.

Have a warm, safe and happy day everyone

    Regards

I fell into that trap once.... Except a work colleague of my husbands sort of invited himself for tea. The plan was he was going to show me how he cooks steak. Was a great idea but by 6pm neither men had showed up so I ended up doing it myself as I was getting hungry. Steak was perfect I dunno what the fuss was about. Shouldn't complain really he sent me a lovely box of handmade cupcakes the week after.

Dumpling. One step at a time. One hour at a time.... and breathe. Big ((((hugs)))).

All is well with me. Bet youngest has got a sore back and neck this morning. He fell asleep around 10pm last night in his computer chair. He hadn't even drunk the hot chocolate I'd made for him. I tried to wake him 3 times before admitting defeat, turning his pc and light off and leaving him to it.

He's under a lot of stress at the moment. He's got to study for his CSCS certificate plus he's got to retake his Driving theory test this month. Nutter forgot last time about the hazard perception part of his theory test and failed it. He's also working hard, saving hard cause he wants to put his car on the road when he passes his driving test.

Daughter number 1 is ok. Not in any pain from her back apparently. She is still seeing the chiropractor.

Loads of post for son number 2 except ive got no way of contacting him. He's even dumped the FB account he uses. Tried reaching him on his old account but he doesn't use that account as he got hacked by one of his so called 'mates'. Oh well. He cant say I haven't tried.

    Onwards and forwards,

    have a great day all.

Morning, a grey morning, the sun keeps trying to break through, but then gives up!! I am sure we will get either rain or snow at some point today.

Off to town. OH has his INR, I need to go to the bank and also Morrison's for the bits I could not get at Aldi last week. Am spending the rest of the day ont'settee. Medication needs a few more days to kick in then I should start to feel better.

Yesterday was a bit of a downer all round. DD got the results of her mri scans and has a narrowing between 2 of her neck vertebrae, all the GP could suggest was referring her to the pain clinic as she didn't think there was anything to be done. She rang her physio who told her there was lots they could do so hopefully she will continue to improve - a month ago she wouldn't have been able to lie down for the mri so she has improved quite a bit.

Then I was told of a problem in the sale of mum's house, I'm hoping it's just a hiccup.

Finally DS' girlfriend is having problems with a bullying manager, not even her manager so I hope she managed to get her won manager to stick up for her.

I'm hoping today will be better.
